Update : Upgrades
It's been a while since I posted an update on here. A lot has happened since everything opened up again in July - after returning to the bar I work at (the one Jo's Bar is based on), I then went away to France for a bit, came back and did some festival work, had a bunny wife staying with me for a few weeks, went to another festival, had another friend staying with me, got some new tattoos, caught up with pals I hadn't seen in months/years, had yet another friend staying with me, started learning how to operate lights for shows, the list goes on.
I also tried to quit the bar, but they begged me not to. And to be perfectly honest I got really emotional about leaving them (I cried a bit when I broke the news to my manager) which might sound weird, but I have been with them for just over 3 years now, and have grown in lots of ways thanks to the dancers and our regulars, soooooo I'm still there. They've reduced the number of nights I work in order to accommodate me having enough time to work on Jo's Bar - knowing that this is the most important thing to me right now - which is actually working out pretty great.
Oh! And I've started learning how to use Unity.
The decision came after stubbornly wanting to build my game using RPG Maker 2k3 and meeting up against more and more barriers that come with using such an ancient program. Finally resulting in me taking the advice of countless friends/former colleagues and taking the plunge into learning a program better suited to my needs. Admittedly, this has added another year to the build (at least) but I'm excited about studying a new thing and don't mind at all delaying the project at the cost of being able to tailor it better to what I want to my game to look and play like.
With all that said and done, and thanks to the many monies you've sent over so far, I have been able to make some serious upgrades to my desk setup :
- Two huge monitors
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Wacom Intuos tablet (LARGE) with a Pro Pen
Feeling very much like a boss with this kit, and it's made a huge difference to my productivity and the process of learning/building in general. (Previously I was working from just my Dell laptop with my Macbook Pro on the side for the dual screen thing, which was kind of long and awfully clumsy.)
I may upload the last RPG Maker build I worked on, as I added/changed a few things since the last build I uploaded, but as I will no longer be continuing with it, it will remain just that - a prototype of a prototype.
Huge, mega thanks to those of you who have tested out the former builds and provided valuable feedback! It means the absolute world to me and I truly wouldn't have gotten this far without it.
Now, let the Unity adventure commence...
